With version 5.2 Nemp supports Winamp DSP plugins. Installed plugins can be activated from the menu Tools → Winamp DSP Plugins. An active Winamp DSP plugin displays a little Winamp Icon in the main window.

Installation of the plugins

Installation is not quite as simple as it is with Winamp. There it is often sufficient to download and execute the installation file. The necessary files are then copied into the Winamp plug-in directory and the plug-in can be used. However, as these setups unfortunately do not know anything about Nemp, this must be done manually with Nemp.

The dll files must be copied into the Nemp plugin directory. This can be accessed via the menu Tools → Winamp DSP Plugins → Open plugin directory. The files that were copied from the setup to the Winamp directory must be copied to this directory. In the case of the Shoutcast plugin, these are the two files dsp_sc.dll and lamedll.dll.

The added plugins are only recognized after a restart of Nemp.

Known issues

  • Not all plugins that work under Winamp will work, and not necessarily the latest versions. The Shoutcast plugin, for example, only works up to version 1.9.0
  • Some configuration windows may not work with the “Advanced skin system”. Although Nemp automatically restricts the skin system somewhat when a plugin is activated (i.e. dialogs are then displayed in the standard Windows style), further problems cannot be ruled out. In this case, deactivate the extended skin system or disable the use of skins completely.
  • The Shoutcast plugin can only be configured at startup. Displaying the configuration window again does not work - but according to my tests, this is also the case with Winamp, at least with this older version.
